Some information about stuff with a large polycount that I learned recently

A lot of polygons is not good, I admit it. Especially in simple things that won’t break from cutting out polygons. But what if I told you that the burden of high-poly things can be reduced? I came up with this method the other day, and it does not affect the polycount and display of stuff in the game at all, but it reduces the weight of the mesh file by half, and, accordingly, the load. This post is made to relieve people from the fear of using medium and high poly items from me, LindaSim, NTYM and IrenBetts, because from now all of our new CC will be optimized in a new way

For example, I took a mesh of dress from Kurimas, and my conversion of a spiked jacket. This creator was chosen only because the number of polygons is similar, I even compressed his mesh using the Compressorizer program to make it as fair as possible. His original mesh weighed 3.06MB. This is in no way an attack on the creator, everything was taken only to demonstrate the difference. My conversion of the spiked jacket before optimization weighed 8.7MB at all

I cloned a sim 80 times, his hair is 16k, his pants are 13k and his jacket is 41k. That is, one sim is at least 70k polygons. There is 80 Sims with this appearance on lot, this is 5,600,000 (!!!) polygons, and the framerate remained acceptable 20-25 fps (see video)
On 100 Sims, of course, it became harder, and on 140 (9,800,000 polygons!) it became impossible to play at 5 fps, but the game never crashed in the end

I doubt you’ll ever run 80 Sims in high-poly clothes on one lot, and in smaller quantities, optimized items don’t cause any lag at all, so now you can’t be afraid to use them if they’re optimized with a new method

This jacket has been optimized in a new way, it can be (re)downloaded here, and just replace all the old files

We love our content and are willing to spend even more time on it to make the game easier to load and run.
Now our clothes with 10-20k poly will work like regular clothes with 2-5k poly. And all the negative and dubious messages towards all “HD” bodies (CHANELLA/MOM/RUBY) and “alpha” clothes instantly became meaningless.
